In case you were wondering……

…..it sucks. My first face-to-face class in over 5 months this morning and it went about as well as could be expected. Yet it still sucks. Tjis is how I feel in a mask

I spent an hour and a half in full-facial-mask mode teaching the class with my usual vim, vigor and plethora of stupid jokes and wisecracks….and when it was done I felt as if I needed a nap in an oxygen tent. I don’t know how hospital and medical professionals do it. Or even cashiers and stock people. Working in a mask sucks.

But we’ve all got to do it. Something resembling normalcy will not happen unless we contain the virus. And we can’t contain the virus without these stupid masks. I’m pleased to say that my  entire class of 17 students showed up this morning in masks. No kvetching or complaining. Just bright-eyed and bushy-tailed kids ready to learn.

At least I think that’s what was happening. It’s kind-of hard to tell when everybody’s wearing a mask….and I’m about to faint for lack of oxygen. Oh well. Welcome to Fall 2020!
