Teachers & Students

Please indulge me. I’d like to brag a little bit – about some CMMA students and some CMMA adjunct faculty members.

Madison Adduci-Blackwood is a CMMA alumna who now teaches speech for us. Madison teaches in the unenviable timeslot of Tuesday evenings from 6 – 8:30. Can you imagine how unbelievably innattentive speech students are at 8pm on a Tuesday evening! I can because I've taught that class at that time.

Yet, Madison's student evaluations are consistently outstanding (and I even have some anecdotal side convos with a USF employee who was in the class and loved it.)  Thanks Madison. You are outstanding!

Another outstanding CMMA adjunct faculty member is Dr. Glen Gummess. Glen’s day job is instructional technology here at USF. At night, he teaches several of our specialty video classes such as video editing (Spring 19), Special Effects & Animation (Spring 20) and Documentary (this semester).

Last evening, we were treated to the documentary projects that his 5 students have been working on….and they were all wonderful examples of the magic that happens when creativity and technical ability intersect. The topics were as varied as the students: Ashley Hare - Stalking Celebrities, Jess Stevens - Beekeeping, Lauren Wozniak - The Making of the Encounter News Magazine, Jacob Hubbs - USF Bowling and Jordan Missig - Rookie Auto Racing Season. Don’t take my word for it…..spend a few minutes and watch the documentaries here.

I think you’ll agree that there are some talented young filmmakers in our midst....and Glen always seems to bring out the best in them.

Happy holidays and Merry Christmas from all of us. We'll talk again in January.
