Hi Professor Lorenc,

I just wanted to email you to thank you (and Rosner, and McHugh and Marshall) for the awesome skill sets and opportunities that you guys all taught and gave me.  It has been a long year after graduation filling out applications and doing interviews, but the stars have finally aligned for me.  I just got a position at WNYT channel 13 the NBC affiliate in Albany, NY (I have been living here for about 3 months now) as a teleprompter operator.  Plus, I am about to start as an assistant producer for a small start-up production company here with a guy who has been working in the industry for 20 years.  He has a lot of television and film experience, which I cannot wait to learn and grow from.

I never could have gotten my foot in the door with these positions if it was not for the education and experiences I gained at the University.   The Mass Communication Department allowed me to put together a great resume which allowed for all of this to happen.   I just want to thank all of you for everything you taught and instilled into me because it all payed off.

Thanks for everything,

Lauren

I'm writing this email from my desk at my new, full time job. This week, I started at Williams Management Resources (WMR), a boutique, association management firm in Naperville. Yesterday, I wrote a press release for the Association of Fundraising Professionals (our biggest client) and thought of you. My boss said it was "outstanding." I have you to thank for that!

My official title is Program Assistant. Basically, I'm working as the assistant to the Director of Meetings and Special Events, so I love it. The people I work with are very nice and I like Naperville. I am so excited to have gotten a job in Communication, especially one that involves planning special events.

I want to thank you for everything over the years at St. Francis. You and the other professors in the MCOM department fully prepared me for this field.

Hello everyone!
Hope all of you are doing wonderful and have had another successful school year. I miss you all.
I just wanted to send a quick update, seeing as though all of you were key to the success I have accomplished thus far.
Work is going wonderfully. I truly enjoy what I do and furthermore I am so happy and honored I can utilize my degree in a field I love. Some of my recent accomplishments that stick out is a project in which I organized and managed. I took a photo shoot here at the office of the CEO, executives, and employees (which turned out great) for some updated pictures. I’m in the process (and just about done) with the updated look of the company newsletter. I, of course, write an article every publication ;) I’ve had the liberty of designing print publications which were used for direct mailings and other advertising mediums. Additionally, The Marketing Director plans on sending me to a webpage based course, because I manage the company website as well as all the franchisee websites, to become more fluent.
That’s a quick wrap-up of what’s on the top of my head.
Furthermore, the real reason for my email...The Joliet Herald decided I would be a good candidate to interview for a post-grad success story. I interviewed with them and they are sending a photographer to Moran tomorrow to snap a few pictures in house. I was extremely honored at this opportunity and instantly thought of all of you. The impact you all made in my life can not be described in words.

When people ask me about my experience at USF and my major I have nothing but truly wonderful things to say about the school and especially the program :)

So, if you happen to stumble upon the article .. I assume it would run next week (I of course will ask when they come tomorrow) .. Snag one for me ;)

My internships with the Chicago Bandits and with Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago were both valuable because they showed me a glimpse of my future in the real world, and helped me realize what path I want to take in my career.

Just giving you an update... I have been working at a small advertising firm in Grant Park, IL as an intern. The company specializes in business to business advertising within the food industries. If I do well, I'll be asked to stay. They like me so far, so fingers crossed. I absolutely love the job, and the people that I work for couldn't be nicer. I just wanted to say thanks for your educational training. Without it, I would still be waiting tables. Brian, thanks for all the harassment of checking the AP Stylebook. I keep a copy on my desk, and it helps tremendously. Also, good writing skills are so essential! Your writing tips help me on a day-to-day basis. Dr. Rosner, the digital portfolio teaser pretty much got me the job, so when your future portfolio students complain.. just let them know that it is an invaluable tool. Dr. Marshall, the abundance of projects you have made me juggle during my time at USF is really paying off, as I am able to handle my time management (finally). It's really rewarding having a job that I like, and it has finally come full circle when I get off of work and think, "Thank God I went to college!" Hope all is well in MCOM land, and I can't thank you guys enough!
